Today I thought we would do a little before and after of one of my favorite spaces in my house, the master bedroom. I believe a master bedroom needs to be extra cozy. It needs to be a place that makes you want to cuddle up and spend a lazy Sunday. I like to feel like I’m sleeping in a cloud, which is something I feel like I have accomplished in my master bedroom. So to begin, lets take a walk down memory lane to the day we bought the house.
Look at it in all its builder grade ceiling fan and carpet glory! If there are two things I hate its carpet and ceiling fans. No offense if they are your thing but they definitely aren’t mine. As I have mentioned before I have small dogs and they don’t do well with carpets. Also, I have yet to find a fan that I like. And yes I have seen the fandaliers, still hate them.
First thing we did was rip out the carpet and install the same hardwoods we added to the other levels of the house. Then we repainted the walls with a couple shades of gray and added the chandelier. Which brings us to the room in its current state.
For the walls we went with the color Knitting Needles by Sherwin Williams for the 3 of the walls and used Web Gray by Sherwin Williams for the accent wall. We have a plan to add a little more drama to the accent wall that I can’t wait to get started on and share with you guys!
The chandelier is my favorite part! It Is the perfect blend of glam with the crystals but also a little industrial feeling with the metal sphere. We bought this Maxim chandelier from build.com. You can find it here. It really is the focal point of the room.
Our bed is from Wayfair. It was one of the first pieces of furniture I had ever bought from them and I was really impressed. It went together fairly easy and was very affordable in comparison to similar beds from other shops. The exact bed I bought is sold out but I did find one that is almost identical. You can find it here.
I also don’t think you can ever have enough pillows. Sure they are silly and you can’t sleep with them all on the bed but something about seeing the bed all put together and layered with pillows makes me happy. The gray pillow covers are from IKEA, you can find them here. I bought the pillow inserts, euro size, from Wayfair but you can find them anywhere. The sequin pillows are from Wayfair. You can find them here. The blush fur pillow I bought from Home Goods but there is a similar option here. The white pillow shams are from Pottery Barn. I like the subtle floral pattern to them and they add more texture. You can find them here.
The duvet cover on the bed is also from Pottery Barn. We had another white duvet cover on the bed originally but the dogs destroyed it with their nails. This duvet cover is awesome because it is made of a thick durable material. I really love white bedding. Not only is it classic and makes the room feel light and bright but its easy to bleach if anything gets on it. You can find the honeycomb duvet cover here.
The nightstands are also from Pottery Barn. We actually got them with a previous bedroom set so we have had them for awhile. They are really good quality but I don’t think they necessarily go with the room like I want. But for now they will do. You can find the nightstands here.
The lamps are also a Pottery Barn find. I wanted to add more blush to the space. I really wish these lamps were a little darker blush. It is kind of hard to tell their color since they are more opaque and are against a darker wall. But I’m hoping once I get the rest of the nightstands styled that the lamps will stand out a little more. They sold out of these particular shaped lamps but you can find a similar lamp here.
The sign is actually something I made. I originally thought I wanted a set of small mirrors above the bed but then I started making wood signs. When I painted one of these to sell at an event I knew I wanted one for above my bed. The saying describes exactly how I feel about my time together with my husband. What better place than above our bed to hang it.
The rug is actually a Home Goods find. They have the best prices on rugs! The only problem is, just like everything at Home Goods, if you like something you have to buy it then or you’ll never see it again. I think this one, which is an 8’x10′ I think, was only $350.
The bench is another Wayfair find. I bought the larger size of the two since we have a king sized bed. It really complements the space while adding functionality. And one of the biggest pluses, the only assembly is screwing in the legs. You can find the bench here.
We have a few more projects to do in this space(which I can’t wait to share!!!) but I’m happy with the change so far. I love that I was able to incorporate my favorite color, blush, and have a space thats a little more feminine in the house. I spend a good amount of time here so I wanted to make it a relaxing space that made me happy. So far, mission accomplished.
